Stain Blocking Primer - 1 Gallon

Our chemists have carefully selected top-notch ingredients to ensure GFSB's superior performance. This product should be used only on pieces where bleed-through is a major concern. GFSB guarantees consistent results every time.

SURFACE PREPARATION: For existing finishes (stain, lacquer, paint), clean the surface thoroughly to remove grime, grease, or loose paint. For heavily soiled surfaces, use a mixture of denatured alcohol and water or a sulfate-free commercial cleaner. Remove any buildup with a synthetic wool pad, then allow the surface to dry completely. Sand with 220 grit sandpaper and remove dust. For raw wood, sand with the grain, starting with 120 grit and finishing with 220 grit. Remove any dust.

APPLICATION: It is crucial to apply 2 coats of GFSB. The first coat will absorb contaminants and may cause a color change, while the second coat will seal them. Apply a uniform coat with a high-quality synthetic blend brush or short nap roller. For spraying, strain the product through a fine mesh filter and apply a medium to wet film 3-5 mil thick. Use compressed air, HVLP, or Air Assisted Airless spray systems with the appropriate fluid tip sizes. As there is a shortage of metal cans, the product may come in a plastic gallon jug.

General Finishes Stain Blocker can be used to protect pigmented finishes from stains, dyes, and wood tannin bleed-through. It is suitable for use over existing finishes, raw wood, or MDF as a base coat for GF Milk Paints, Chalk Style Paints, and Pigmented Polys. WARNING: Do not mix GFSB with any other paint, stain, or topcoat, as this can cause product failure. Rinse all brushes and equipment with clean water after use. Avoid using General Finishes Brush & Gun Cleaner.
