In order to enhance the effectiveness of GFSB, our experts have carefully crafted this product with only the finest ingredients. Reserve its use for projects where bleed through is a concern. GFSB delivers consistent results each time, without any guesswork involved.

Before application, proper surface preparation is crucial. For existing finishes (stain, lacquer, paint), ensure that surfaces are free of grime, grease, or loose paint. For heavily soiled surfaces, use a 50/50 mix of denatured alcohol and water or a sulfate-free cleaner. Stubborn buildup can be removed with a synthetic wool pad. Sand the surface with 220 grit sandpaper, then wipe away any dust. Raw wood should be sanded along the grain, starting with 120 grit followed by 220 grit paper. Remove all dust before proceeding.

When applying GFSB, be sure to stir the product thoroughly and apply two coats for optimal results. The first coat will absorb any contaminants in the wood, causing a color change, while the second coat will seal them. Use a high-quality synthetic blend brush or short nap roller for a uniform coat. If spraying, strain the material through a fine mesh filter and apply a medium to wet film 3-5 mil thick. Avoid heavy coats as they will prolong drying time. Suitable spray methods include compressed air, HVLP, or Air Assisted Airless.

General Finishes' new water-based white primer is ideal for protecting pigmented finishes from stain, dye, and wood tannin bleed-through. It can be used over existing finishes, raw wood, or MDF as a base coat for GF Milk Paints, Chalk Style Paints, and Pigmented Polys. Note that this product should not be mixed with any other paint, stain, or topcoat to prevent product failure.
